"Please play a part in supporting the arts, because without you we cannot.  THANK YOU!" ~ J. Garrett

Since a career move in May of 2002, Jason Garrett has collaborated with many Seattle and Northwest artists on complex projects using his expertise in CAD/CAM drawing, CNC programming and high pressure waterjet cutting.

Combining craft with technology to develop a diverse technique, he utilizes his specialized background, creativity and ambition to produce fine art using glass, metals and other mediums.

Jason’s main objective is to create high quality, affordable and unique art while continually expanding his scope and imagination.

My career includes but is not limited to 32 years of artistic expression, 20 years of CAD/CAM, 12 years of CNC programming, SigmaNEST support and operation and over 5 years of helping artists start and finish their projects in glass, metal, stone or anything else they can find to cut into pieces.

By studying CAD (computer aided drafting) in high school, I became interested in how computer drafting might play a part in my hopes to be a career artist.   I continued with my education studying Computer Graphics Engineering Technology in college for a short time.

Soon after college, on April 1st, 1995, I started full time employment at SigmaTEK Corporation in Bellevue, Washington.  My job was to develop, support, and train CAD/CAM nesting and cutting software which creates cutting programs from CAD programs.  This software is used to prepare programs for machines such as waterjet, laser, plasma and routers.  In many ways, this job was a pivotal point of my career.

I moved on from SigmaTEK after 5 years and traveled to Plattsburgh, New York for a 6 month consulting job at A. Schonbek & Company, a chandelier and decorative lighting manufacturer.

After Schonbek I moved back to Seattle and, for over 3, years had the opportunity to program and operate a waterjet machine, using water, earth, air and fire to cut glass, metal, stone and many other materials.  Our primary objective was to cater mostly to local and regional artists.

Over the past four years I have been working very closely with renowned artist Marvin Oliver of Alaska Eagle Arts.  Our main project together was a 30 foot Orca Whale that resides in the whale building of the Seattle Sandpoint Children’s Hospital.  My part alone of this project took over one year to complete, including detailing the engineers CAD drawings to ensure that everything fit together as well as cutting prototypes and every single piece of the glass in the final project.

My goals are to help other artist with their projects as well as producing my own projects and products.  My dream is to provide unique, affordable and practical products that can be enjoyed by anyone.
